We utilize comprehensive, evidence-based interventions to engage our youth who are struggling to be successful in school. The Check and Connect model is designed to engage students through relationship building, problem solving and capacity building, and persistence. Identified youth are paired with a Specialist to assist with low academics, school truancy, school suspensions, lack of engagement in school settings, and school enrollment.

Every day we collaborate with young people in our care, with their parents and caretakers; with teachers, counselors, and other resource partners; and with our professional colleagues. We know the smarter we work together, the stronger our families and communities will be. Our vision includes expanded youth service programs, job readiness training, family engagement, and more. And even as we adjust our work to best support families dealing with the impacts of COVID, our priority continues to be the young people in our service. We have added services to aid youth with workforce development through our Journey to Success program including DREAM mentoring, Career Pathways, after school programming, and more.

Through the Strengthening Families Program, families learn universal life-skills that have been taught in 36 countries for more than 30 years with outstanding results. Studies show that families who learn and put these skills into practice are happier, and have better-behaved, more emotionally resilient children who are more likely to remain alcohol and drug-free.
